Az Yet
Az Yet
Az Yet is an American based Pop/R&B vocal group that was formed in Philadelphia, PA in the early 90’s with group members [Dion Allen, Shawn Rivera, Dyshon Benson, Claude Thomas Jr. and Kenneth Terry Jr.] After a few Az Yet recordings caught the ear of Mega Producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds in 1994, he promptly directed his mother-in-law (The late Jaqueline Mcquarn) to fly to Philly to see if the group was more than just recording hype. Confirmation of Jaqueline’s trip was soon followed by an invitation to attend Babyface’s Border Babies concert in Washington DC, where Az Yet would have an impromptu meet and greet before the show to sing for Babyface, Sony Records, Yab-Yum Records and a few other entities.

Following the impromptu, Babyface was so impressed he asked Az Yet if they would be the opening act for the Border Babies Concert which featured other artists including El DeBarge, After 7 & Babyface.A few months later, Babyface moved Az Yet from Philly to Los Angeles to sign with LaFace Records in 1995. (Babyface sighted that he signed the singing group because they are a self contained unit and that they would be fun to work with.) Soon after, Claude Thomas Jr. would forfeit his position for personal reasons and Dyshon Benson parted with the group for creative
differences. (Dyshon continued to pursue his solo career) Continuing with the Core of the group, Claude and Dyshon was replaced with the similar vocals of Marc Nelson and Darryl Hawes.

In 1996 Az Yet released the hit single “Last Night” written and produced by Babyface and was also released on the soundtrack of Eddie Murphy’s “The Nutty Professor,” followed by Az Yet’s A Cappella arrangement of Chicago’s “Hard to Say Im Sorry.” Both singles as well as the album self titled (Az Yet) reached double platinum status in the US, Australia, New Zealand and many other countries around the world as well as the single Last Night also reaching Platinum status again
on the Nutty Professor Soundtrack.

Last Night reached #1 on the Billboard R&B charts and Hard to Say Im Sorry broke into the Top 10 on Billboards Pop Chart. Hard to Say Im Sorry was also nominated for a Grammy award for Best Vocal Performance in the late 90’s.

Rejoining the group, Original members Claude Thomas Jr. and Dyshon Benson join Original members Dion Allen and Kenneth Terry Jr. with added member Parrice Smith (Fellow singer, songwriter and music producer who was mentored by
BOYZ II MEN and by many all time great Super Producers in the Music Industry) are bringing the UNMISTAKABLE five part harmony the world has come to know as Az Yet- (The Perfect Prototype for Pop and R&B.)

Az Yet is now touring the World singing their Hit songs as well as recording new music to be released in 2019.
