 music pioneer who became a forgotten elder statesman as rap evolved. Bamba
 ataa\, who took his name (which means &quot\;affectionate leader&quot\;) f
 rom a movie about Zulu warriors\, quit the notorious Black Spades street g
 ang in the mid-1970s and formed Zulu Nation\, a music-oriented &quot\;yout
 h organization.&quot\; Among the members who became minor rap luminaries w
 ere DJs Red Alert\, Jazzy Jay\, and Whiz Kid\, as well as Afrika Islam\, w
 ho went on to work with Ice-T.\nDJ JAH STYLES: \n\nBorn and raised in Clev
 eland\, currently residing in the Bay Area\, JAHI\, a lyrically conscious 
 emcee\, has been rocking stages\, writing prolific songs\, and touring int
 ernationally for the last 10 years. \n\nRaised in an urban household\, whi
 ch regarded music as more important than television\, JAHI&rsquo\;s first 
 musical inspirations came from the sounds of James Brown\, The O&rsquo\;Ja

 asing his first album in 2000\, Higher Elevation\, Jahi realized that he n
 eeded to begin his journey outside of Cleveland to see if the world at lar
 ge would embrace his style of music which is classified as introspective\,
  thought provoking\, political\, and motivational.&nbsp\; Throughout a spa
 n of 10 years\, Jahi has shared the same stage with Chaka Khan\, Chuck Bro
 wn\, Jay\, Z\, KRS-One\, Scarface\, X Clan\, Floetry\, Mos Def\, Talib Kwe
 li\, Public Enemy\, Blackalicious\, Dead Prez\, Missy Elliott\, Dilated Pe
 oples\, Raheem DeVaughn\, Outkast\, Cee-Lo Green of Gnarles Barkley\, Jagu
 ar Wright\, and Mary J Blige to name a few.\n\nJahi has released 8 indepen
 dent records\, and one on a major label. His accomplishments range from be
 ing a 2nd place Winner in the International Songwriting Competition in the

  Soulhop The Breakthru on EMI Denmark. Jahi has toured all of the US and E
 urope\, and has been featured in numerous publications\, newspapers\, and

  world of Hip Hop by creating musical landscapes that talk more about love
