DESCRIPTION:\n&quot\;Gaucho has its own feel\,&quot\; group's founder Dave
Ricketts says. &quot\;It has a Gypsy jazz sound\, but we don't focus on
that rhythm. I'm not trying to say we're reinventing swing\, but we've go
t our own signature. We also find inspiration in the rhythmic drive and c
ollective improvisation of New Orleans swing music\, that great gut bucke
 t sound.&quot\; \n\nOriginally a trio featuring Ricketts\, guitarist Micha
el Groh and stand-up bassist Ari Munkres\, Gaucho quickly attracted a daz
zling cast of improvisers including accordion ace Rob Reich\, drummer/per
cussionist Pete Devine (who gained a national following with the ragtime
trio Bo Grumpus and recently started Devine's Jug Band)\, and reed exper
t Ralph Carney\, a brilliantly expressive player best known for his many
recordings with Tom Waits. The repertoire ranges from early American Song
book standards and classic blues to vintage Latin American hits and Tin P
an Alley pop numbers. \n\nThis Spring Gaucho recorded a new album Pearl w
ith guest trumpeter Leon Oakley and New York based singer Tamar Korn\, wh
o wrote the lyrics to three originals by Dave Ricketts\, and to be releas
ed some time in the Fall. The above video\, shot at Amnesia a few months
ago\, are a little preview of that sound.\nGaucho's website
