Mr. Kit: The Band is a five piece neo-soul group sending their groovy vibes and funky jives from Stockton, CA to all who are willing to listen.  The drummer, guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, and saxophonist/vocalist all studied music at the University of the Pacific, but lately are putting their own spin on classic tunes.  Their influences range from Miles Davis to Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder to John Coltrane, and many more.  Their original tunes combine the best of both dynamic funk rhythms and refined jazz harmonies to create genre-defying music.  Mr. Kit has a mixtape to be released in June, and an EP to be recorded in the summer.  Catch the word on Mr. Kit at facebook.com/mrkittheband.

Current Personae is a Stockton, CA based band specializing in head-knocking grooves and varied orchestration that has lent itself to the term “garage soul.” The band was started in 2012 and is lead by composer, arranger, singer-songwriter, and keyboardist Joshua Washington. Washington received his bachelors degree in music composition in 2012 and since then has worked on several diversifying projects; Current Personae being one of his main ones thus far.  Current Personae has opened for Anthony Hamilton for the University of the Pacific’s Black History Month event in 2013. They were also the backing band for Juno nominated Canadian recording artist, Joanna Borromeo and LA based artist, Aubrey Logan for the Zion Academy of Music's first and second annual citywide Reclaim Concerts. All of those shows had 500 or more attendees. In June, the band will be working on their EP entitled “December Jane.” Facebook page

Take funk, jazz, and pop music and put it in a blender. Add a dash of soul, and you are deep in the groove of future funk group The JurassiC. This group has plugged their sound into a playful 70’s funk machine, twisting pocket bass lines with colorful improvisational melodies and sweet punch-packing vocals. From San Jose Jazz Summer Fest (San Jose) to Crocker Art Museum (Sacramento), the Boom Boom Room (San Francisco) to the Blackbird Tavern (San Jose), and everything in between, it's no wonder they've been profiled as one of "10 Bands to Watch at C2SV Festival" by the Bay Bridged, among other Bay Area titles. Check them out! The JurassiC's new 2014 anthem "fine so fine" is out now.
