Songs in the Key of Steven Blier - featuring Frederica von Stade
July 24, 2014
A benefit for the FSH muscular dystrophy charity
Thursday, July 24
Opera’s legendary Frederica von Stade performs an intimate and personal suite of songs with the beloved pianist Steven Blier at Yoshi’s San Francisco on Thursday, July 24, 2014. The evening will feature dinner, cocktails and an auction to support the work of the FSH Society, an award-winning charity raising critical funds for scientific research on facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD), a degenerative muscle disease affecting over 500,000 people worldwide. For tickets and sponsorship opportunities, visit www.fshsociety.org.
Please join Frederica von Stade, one of the world’s most celebrated mezzo sopranos, and Steven Blier, the acclaimed pianist, for an intimate musical journey drawn from the American Songbook, French popular song, and Latin-American music, plus a touch of Kurt Weill. These are “songs that have continually fueled my imagination and my heart,” says Blier. They will be joined by rising stars from the San Francisco Opera’s Merola program.
