Wil’s childhood was spent in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, where he grew up amidst streets filled with joyful traditional Cuban music. Organizing, directing and presenting concerts to family and neighborhood friends from an early age, inspired by Benny Moore, Miguelito Cuni and Arsenio Rodriquez. His ambition and love for music, dance and songwriting led him to study professional music at the acclaimed ESCUELA SUPERIOR DE ARTE RAUL SANCHEZ in Cuba.

From 1988 to 2004 Wil Campa performed with the well-known Orchestras Cumbre, and later Maraca, participating in the prestigious Aldofo Guzman Festival and many elite Jazz Festivals, traveling to over 37 countries around the world.

His charisma and the ability to move an audience has brought him to share the stage with the ranks of Winton Marsalis, Poncho Sanchez, The Gran Combo, Natalie Cole, Michael Miller, Joe Lovano, Giovanni Hidalgo, Jimmy Bosh, Jose Alberto "El Canario." He also played with highly recognized Cuban musicians Omara Portuondo and Ibrahim Ferrer with whom he shared the stage on his last concert at the Festival Marciac in France.

Recording several albums with Cumbre and Maraca, he is best recognized nationally and internationally for his GRAMMY® Nominated contribution to the CD “Tremenda Rumba” in 2002.

In 2005 Wil formed what is known today as one of Cuba's elite groups WIL CAMPA Y SU ORQUESTA. Releasing two albums, one in 2006 “ES TIEMPO” and 2011 “TODO ES POSIBLE,” winning him a nomination for BEST ALBUM 2012 at the CUBADISCO (Cuba’s equivalent of the Grammy’s).
