Here is your "Entrance" to tenor saxophonist Colin Gleason and his music. These seven originals, including two ("Remembrance" and "Davo's Revenge") from his 1993 date at Yoshi's on Claremont, are a part with many standards and styles of what he has played with dozens of bands in hundreds of Bay Area venues in more than two decades.
Colin studied with Ed Kelly, Mel Graves, and Dee Spencer, and was mentored by the late, great Vince Wallace, whose unwritten compositions he meticulously transcribed into Vince's songbook.
Colin started on piano at age 6, went to alto sax at 10 after being enraptured by Branford Marsalis via Sting, then to tenor at 14 in the last years of Dexter Gordon, on whom he wrote his senior thesis for the Jazz Performance major at San Francisco State University.
Welcome, and enter Colin's world!
