Please join Jesus Diaz y su QBA - one of our most revered groups - for "A Cuban Christmas Eve" together.
Celebrate the holidays, the richness of the fantastic live music we have here in the SF Bay Area, and the wonderful hospitality, food, and drinks of Yoshi's Oakland. This is an "open dance floor" fiesta for all to enjoy. Children are most welcome. And if you need last minute holiday gifts, CDs and the "Beyond Salsa" books on Cuban music will be for sale.
Cuban born percussionist, vocalist, and composer, Jesus Diaz has made the Bay Area home since arriving from Havana in 1980. He's established a wonderful community of music, family, and friends and a prestigious creative reputation. His local, national, and international performances show he's recognized not only for his music, but for growing the audience for "Cuban" music worldwide and for his far-reaching relationships with acclaimed artists, some of whom will join in this Christmas Eve celebration.
QBA is an incomparable orchestra of artists whose Funk, Jazz, Rumba, Son and varied Afro-Cuban sounds resonate with dancers and have created a musical tradition of new and unique “signature” styles and sounds. The drive of QBA music is a direct inspiration to dancers actively engaging with the music - this festive celebration will be memorable.
Jesus Diaz is an educator endorsed by: Pearl, Sabian Cymbals, Vic Firth, Audix, and Remo Drum Heads. He has performed, toured and recorded with such artists as, Carlos Santana, Andy Narrell, Dizzy Gillespie, Bobbie Womack, Steve Coleman, Caribbean Jazz Project, Planet Drum, Talking Drums, Pete Escovedo/Sheila E, José Luis Quintana "Changuito", Giovanni Hidalgo, Omar Sosa, John Calloway, Raices Profundas dance company and Conjunto Céspedes. Jesus also has played and toured with Stevie Wonder and the Dave Matthews Band.
The QBA "groove" will make this one of the best Christmas Eve celebrations ever.
