102.1 KDFC takes classical music out of the concert hall and into Yoshi's San Francisco with La Pieta, the 12-piece, all-female orchestra fronted by violinist Angele Dubeau.

An accomplished soloist known for unique arrangements of classical masterworks and sophisticated interpretations of modern pieces, Angele Dubeau put together the 12-piece ensemble La Pieta in 1997. The charismatic, adventurous result, wrote the L.A. Times, is “exciting, dynamic… the well-drilled band played with agility, power and a fierce joy in the doing.”

Praise for Angele Dubeau and La Pieta

“La Pieta tackled Vivaldi with vitality and velocity… crisp and tightly wound in the allegros, sensuous and lightly sweetened in the slow movements. Performances were consistently robust and inquiring, taking risks and taking nothing for granted.”
- Los Angeles Times

“(Infernal Violins) has an infectious, devil-may care attitude… it hops with energy, sizzles and smolders.”
- Forbes Magazine

“ Dubeau lets fly her unfettered virtuosity as solist extarorinaire, aided by her exceptionally talented all-female string-orchestra colleagues… you’re impressed by the sheer intensity of activity and energy that colors every note and phrase.”
- ClassicsToday

“Dubeau is a first-class violinist. (The concert was) a truly great recital and a perfect example of how to popularize music while maintaining the highest standards.”
- Repetoire (France)
