Jacques Ibula:
Jacques Ibula has a refreshing Artistic quality atypical to mainstream "depictions" of the Democratic Republic of Congo. His music style lauds captivating melodies blended into searing messages of word song, giving voice to his quote, "...we are defined by the inner striving of our hearts more than our outward struggles." A quiet force upon charts, picks lists and alternative radio formats, Jacques' lyrics cry out loud to those living safely in America to stand up, speak out- invoking action and awareness through his organization "Congo Bolingo". Although informed by war and oppression in the Congo, Jacques’ continues to counter this conflict through his music, often influenced by three distinct themes: socio-political struggle, faith and Love; undaunted by his mission nor making music with a message. Foxtail Brigade:
Foxtails Brigade present an ornate kind of chamber pop, intricate violin and cello arrangements are anchored by Laura Weinbach’s intricately played classical guitar and pitch perfect vocals. But underneath the simple melodies lie an impeding darkness, a lyrical landscape populated by shadowy and bizarre characters, rife with hints of rot, aging, and death.
The Hollywood Hills-born daughter of a cult filmmaker and sister of offbeat stand-up comedian Brent Weinbach, Laura grew up in a musical household that embraced eccentricity. Her next-door neighbors were circus contortionists with emus and fang-toothed monkeys as pets and her childhood activities included snail hunting and spying on celebrity neighbors like Slash, Ice-T and Larry from Perfect Strangers. Tad Worku:
Up and coming singer-songwriter Tad Worku charms listeners with his swoon-worthy voice. His voice is a refreshing mix between the style of Jazz singer Michael Bublé and the voice of American R&B singer John Legend.
By blending the genre styles of pop, jazz, and soul, Worku creates his own style at a time when the music industry continues to produce acts that are strangely alike in style and sound. Worku will not only leave you entertained but also inspired by the way he crafts the truths of life and love effortlessly in his music.
Tad Worku made his Yoshis debut in 2009 to a sold out audience and has since returned twice to great reviews and another sold out show! He brings together an all star band which have played for the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Lauryn Hill, Goapele, and Dwele.
