SONGWRITERS UNPLUGGED IV & CD Release

Bay Vibes and Sonic Zen Records will be releasing a compilation CD of previous showcases at Yoshis.
Sonia Rao combines her soulful voice with piano, singing deeply personal songs of which some are haunting, some are joyful, some are gritty and raw, but all feature Sonia’s incredible voice and honest lyrics.
Kerry Wing is a soulful local singer songwriter. His music infuses influences of folk, rock, reggae, soul, funk, and his lyrics uniquely reflect his vision, passion and soul searching.
Brett Hunter and Tara J. King exemplify one word: SULTRY! This dynamic duo are solo artists coming together to bring you music like buttery soul food;). Brett Hunter and Tara J King met summer 2010 while touring with the same band. They are looking forward to sharing their acoustic soul combined with immaculate harmonies.
Raised on the beaches of Hawaii and in the Mountains of the Pacific Northwest, Aaron Blyth’s music is as diverse and eclectic as his background. Pulling from strong influences of Folk, Rock, Blues and Funk, this singer/songwriter blends his favorite flavors into a uniquely energetic sound. The music has a positive message and energy that is both sonically simple yet lyrically deep.
Emily Moldenhauer (aka Emily Moldy) was born in San Diego where she first began her path to music. An indie folk-soul singer, Emily started performing under the name Emily Moldy once she released her first EP in 2010 called "E is for Eleven." The EP captures this unsigned artist's nostalgic and soulful voice with an eclectic mix of genres thrown behind it to create songs that combine neo-folk, pop, and groove.

From the coalescence of Sonic Zen Records and Bay Vibes, the Songwriters Unplugged series at Yoshi's SF was born in July of 2009. Through almost two years and hundreds of songwriters taking the stage, it has been a real gift to see the community that has flourished around this weekly ritual. The talent is seemingly endless, as we continue to meet more amazing creators every day. We revel in bringing performers and fans together in new combinations, forging lasting relationships and spreading the love.
Bay Vibes and Sonic Zen will be releasing our first album, representing a culmination of this work, as well as a first step in what will hopefully be a long line of Songwriters Unplugged volumes. Featured artists on the CD are Amity Eliaz, Francesca Lee, Jeff Campbell, Megan Slankard, Justin Ancheta, Matt Lucas, Robin Applewood, Garrin Benfield, Brad Brooks, Anita Lofton, Heather Combs, Valerie Orth and Ziva Hadar.
