Seis Del Solar was formed in 1983, to as the band that accompanied Salsa star Ruben Blades when he launched his career as a solo artist. With Blades as one of the most important artists, and Seis Del Solar as one of the most innovative bands in Latin Music, they produced some landmark recordings, which went on to garner world acclaim.

Seis Del Solar launched its own debut CD, “Decision,” in 1992, followed by “Alternate Roots” in 1995, while continuing to perform with Blades until 1996. Both albums are considered fresh and innovative, with a sound that resonates with Latin & Latin-Jazz music fans everywhere.

Currently, the band consists of pianist/composer/arranger Oscar Hernández; percussionists Ralph Irizarry and Bobby Allende; drummer Robby Ameen; Bobby Franceschini on sax; and bassist Ruben Rodríguez. Individually, each of these musicians have also performed and recorded with most major Latin Music artists over the past three decades. They have also released successful CDs as individual artists. Together, the musicians of Seis Del Solar form a tight, grooving powerhouse of sound in the Latin and Latin Jazz genres – a sound that captivates audiences wherever they perform.
