 ed drummer has worked with a long list of notables\, from Art Farmer to Zo
 ot Sims\, Sonny Rollins to Sonny Stitt\, James Moody to Lena Horne. He has
  played on scores of great recordings and produced dozens more\, including
  several albums by Tana Reid\, his artful collaboration with the bassist R
 ufus Reid. Tana&rsquo\;s Secret Agent Men Band features Annie Selleck\, a 
 stunning vocalist out of Nashville\, and a phenomenally talented ensemble 
 who play the music of James Bond in a way guaranteed to thrill and delight
  you.\nBorn and bred in San Jose\, Akira Tana received degrees in East Asi
 an Studies from Harvard University in 1974 and percussion from the New Eng
 land Conservatory in 1979. A move to New York established him as one of to
 day's most sought-after drummers on the international jazz scene.\nRecogni
 zed for his ability to ignite the spark of many top rhythm sections and cr
 eate pure musical dialogue with mainstay soloists\, his colorful interacti
 ve style led to concert\, club and recording work with a Who&rsquo\;s Who 
 of jazz greats. He performed at the Tanglewood Festival under the directio
 n of Leonard Bernstein\, Seiji Ozawa and Gunther Schuller and has accompan
 ied diverse artists such as Charles Aznavour\, Maurice Hines and Van Dyke 
 Parks on over 100 recordings. Tana has toured throughout the world and tau
 ght at colleges like the University of Pittsburgh\, the University of Geor
 gia\, the University of Miami\, and Berklee College of Music. One highligh
 t of his work as a jazz educator was a concert-clinic tour of South Americ
 a with the Heath Brothers\, sponsored and presented through the U.S. State
  Department.\nRecently relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area after 20 ye
 ars in New York City\, Tana tours internationally as well as performing lo
 cally in and around San Francisco with his own groups and groups led by ot
