 fornia.  A summer child who bathed in the sweet soul music of the seventie
 s and found himself a Bill Withers and Sam Cooke fan before being properly
  introduced to the electrifying perennial funk mob\, Parliament Funkadelic
 .  A life long student of music\, Martin began writing songs as early as a
 ge 6 and would rearrange the gospel songs he learned in church. The influe
 nce of San Francisco&rsquo\;s cultural melting pot allowed him to gain a g
 reat appreciation for rock and roll. His voice is anointed with the ethers
  of the gospel church but his pen speaks to sinners and saints alike.\nA g
 raduate of Morehouse College\, Luther started his own label Rebel Soul Rec
 ords and has continued to defy the laws of traditional RnB /Neo Soul artis
 ts by melding indie soul and indie rock into a genre he aptly calls Rebel 
 Soul.  &ldquo\;What is more important\, making history or making excuses?&
 rdquo\; is written on the ceiling right above the studio console where Mar
 tin put the finishing touches on his fourth studio release\, American Gold
  (Spring 2012) that he calls &ldquo\; mine music&hellip\; music for the ti
 mes. There&rsquo\;s gold in the hills of our mind\, we just have to mine i
 t. Open up our thoughts and grow. It&rsquo\;s all about expansion.&rdquo\;
   Martin started releasing his own music with his debut &lsquo\;&rsquo\;Th
 e Calling&rsquo\;&rsquo\; in 1999 to critical acclaim.  His sophomore rele
 ase\, &lsquo\;&rsquo\;Rebel Soul Music&rsquo\;&rsquo\; produced the hit &l
 dquo\;Daily Bread&rsquo\;&rsquo\; and a video that made VH1&rsquo\;s top t
 en in 2005.  For years he toured with The Roots and has made cameos in var
 ious films and TV shows. In 2007 he made his cinematic debut in a starring
  role in the Academy Award nominated film Across The Universe where he per
 formed the new definitive version of George Harrison&rsquo\;s &ldquo\;Whil
 e My Guitar Gently Weeps.&rdquo\;
