DESCRIPTION:\n\nThe Windham Hill recording label is synonymous with the bes
t of today's new age\, jazz\, and pop instrumentals. An annual holiday tra
dition brings some of the labels most celebrated artists to perform a Seas
onal concert of solos\, duets and full group performances. Three time Gram
my nominee Liz Story\, multi-instrumentalist\, singer and Grammy nominee B
arbara Higbie\, and highly original Billboard charting Celtic Harpist Lisa
Lynne promise an exquisite sonic experience. They will be joined onstage
by multi-instrumentalists George Tortorelli and Aryeh Frankfurter.\n&quot\
;Liz Story and Lisa Lynne are phenomenal musicians\,&quot\; says Barbara H
igbie. &quot\;This is our first Bay Area concert together after touring Pe
rforming Arts Centers all over the country. It's a show made for people wh
o want to celebrate the season in their own unique way. I love playing wit
h these women. If you've never heard Liz Story play the piano or Lisa Lynn
e play the harp live in concert\, you need to come to this show. After pla
ying more than 25 shows in the finest concert halls in the country\, this
is our Bay Area Premiere.&quot\;\nA native of California\, Liz Story began
her musical training as a young child\, mastering Mozart's Piano Concerto
No. 11 by the age of 11. When her family moved to Germany during her teen
s\, Liz added languages\, philosophy\, and poetry to her studies. On her r
eturn to the United States\, Liz continued her piano studies at the Juilli
ard School of Music and enrolled at Hunter College. But after hearing the
jazz pianist Bill Evans one night at the Bottom Line in New York City\, Li
z decided to learn jazz piano and became a student of Sanford Gold\, whom
Evans recommended. Later\, after moving back to Southern California\, Liz
Story studied at the Dick Grove Music Workshops in Studio City. During her
studies\, Liz took a job playing piano in a restaurant and was thrust sud
denly into improvisations when the piano had no musical strand. Over sever
al months these improvisations developed into compositions. When Windham H
ill's Will Ackerman heard a tape of these\, he signed her to record her de
but album\, Solid Colors.\nGrammy-nominated Barbara Higbie combines elemen
ts of jazz\, folk\, classical\, African\, Brazilian and Celtic music to cr
eate unique compositions that are lyrical\, rhythmically playful and harmo
 nically inventive. Barbara is a multi-instrumentalist\, singer-songwriter
and championship fiddle player as well as a pianist and composer. Barbara
is known for her work as co-founder of the acoustic super-group Montreux.
Higbie is a high priestess of collaboration. Barbara Higbie has played wit
h musicians as different as Bonnie Raitt\, Kronos Quartet\, Milton Nascime
nto and Spyro Gyra\, and has performed on more than 65 albums. Perhaps Hig
bie's greatest gift is not just her knowledge about musical genres\, but h
er view that live performance &quot\;is really a devotional form. Live mus
ic can heal you physically\, mentally and spiritually.&quot\;\nLisa Lynne
is a multi-instrumentalist and performer who came later to the Windham Hil
l Record label\, but had already gained worldwide recognition for her orig
inal music featuring her Celtic Harp. Lisa is a multi-instrumentalist that
specializes in traditional acoustic folk instruments with a modern approa
ch. All of Lisa's recent CD releases have placed in the top 20 of the Bill
board music charts (Hopes &amp\; Dreams reaching #6) as well as holding to
p spots in the Celtic\, New Age and world music radio airplay charts.\nThi
s ensemble has toured nationally for the past 10 years for the series that
sold over eight million copies. Warmth\, humor and stunningly pristine pe
rformances abound. They love playing together and the season is the focus.
