The California Honeydrops formed in November of 2007. They  are the San Francisco Bay Area’s newest,  most authentic, and quickly becoming the most sought after,  American Roots and Blues ensemble. There first gigs were playing for the commuting crowd, in the Bay Area subway stations. Artfully, crossing genres from roots and blues to R&B and soul, The California Honeydrops’ sound is tied together by their unique instrumentation, soulful,  gospel, vocal harmonies, and a funky, good-times New Orleans style. The Honeydrops’ influences are deep and varied, and include artists such as Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Robert Johnson, Huey “Piano” Smith and the Clowns, Professor Longhair, James Brown, and The Soul Stirrers, to name a few.
