The Jazz Program of the CSU East Bay Music Department celebrates the 15th anniversary of its Night of Jazz scholarship fundraiser at Oakland’s Yoshi’s Jazz Club. All proceeds from the Annual Night of Jazz benefit CSU East Bay's Music Department scholarship funds and special event funds.

A Bay Area tradition since 2000, the Annual Night of Jazz brings together prominent performers and composers of jazz with CSU East Bay students in order to make great music together while raising funds to allow for future CSU East Bay students to study jazz. This year's special guest artists are Bay Area trumpeters Mike Olmos and Marvin McFadden.

Mike Olmos has become one the most in demand jazz musicians since his arrival to the San Francisco Bay Area. A versatile trumpet player, Mike has been performing with various bands such as the Marcus Shelby Jazz Orchestra, Lavay Smith and her Red Hot Skillet Lickers, Pete Escovedo, Rebeca Mauleón, 8-Legged Monster, Realistic Orchestra, Brass Mafia, The Jazz Mafia Hip Hop Symphony, Wil Blades, Eddie Roberts, Jubu and Legally Blynd, The Fil Lorenz Jazz Orchestra, The Shotgun Wedding Hip-Hop Symphony, Conjunto Rovira, John Calloway, Jesus Diaz y su QBA and Josh Jones.

Marvin McFadden was born on January 31 and raised in Vallejo, CA. Marvin has been playing music since elementary school. Marvin’s musical capabilities have enabled him to be a successful free-lance musician in the greatly varied genres of today’s music industry.

Marvin McFadden's many credits include working with such artists as Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme, George Shearing, Rosemary Clooney, Santana, The Doobie Brothers, Wayne Newton, Hammer, Natalie Cole, Maureen McGovern, Barry Manilow, Diana Krall, Bob Hope, Vic Damone, Ray Charles, Lou Rawls, David Benoit, Cab Calloway, San Francisco Symphony, Tony Toni Tone, The Temptations, and Doc Kupka’s Strokeland Superband. Marvin continues to record and tour with Huey Lewis and the News.
