The Wayne Wallace Latin Jazz Quintet returns to Yoshi's to celebrate the release of their third album To Hear From There. Following up the Grammy Award-nominated “¡Bien Bien!,” which DownBeat named one of 2010’s best releases, the San Francisco trombonist, arranger, and composer once again showcases his stellar quintet, featuring Murray Low (piano), David Belove (bass), Michael Spiro (Latin percussion and percussion arrangements), and Paul van Wageningen (trap drums) featuring selections from the new release, as well as finely wrought originals and beloved standards. The evening will include a special appearance by vocalist Bobi Cespedes. Wayne Wallace’s extraordinary musical journey continues apace with this new album, a sizzling Latin jazz session that highlights the deep cultural currents owing between West Africa and the Americas.

“Wayne Wallace uses ¡Bien Bien! to view the Spanish speaking diaspora through a jazz lens and vice versa. This is a rollicking triumph of styles and genres that is fun from one end to the other."
 4-1/2 stars —  DownBeat Magazine

“His music sounds like ice-cold sparkling wine bubbling in our summer-hot New Year's Eve.”
 — J.C.Celmer, Rádio Universidade FM - Rio Grande, Brazil

"What makes each of these songs and the entire recording of ¡Bien Bien! so beautiful is that the special guests and members of the quintet are first rate performers that are on board to see Wallace's vision through to the end. The result is pure, unadulterated music that offers a great representation of the spirit of Latin music.”
 — Bridget A. Arnwine, All About Jazz
