The East Bay Express praised pianist and composer Ken Berman as "daring" "original," and "straddling genres," comparing him to Vijay Iyer and Aaron Parks. The SF Examiner.com recently called him "fiercely imaginative". Mr. Berman comes to Yoshi's promoting his new release Looking Forward (2010) featuring a dynamic trio including bass virtuoso Kai Eckhardt and the critically acclaimed Akira Tana on drums. They will be performing a set of extraordinary original compositions that bring to mind the classic trios of Pat Metheny, Keith Jarrett, and Bill Evans, while at the same time maintaining a unique and inimitable modern sound.
