Fade2Black was formed in 2005 when Amina Scott (bass & keyboard) and Ayinde Webb (drums) met while playing in the Golden Gate Jazz Ensemble in Oakland with Director Mack Rucks.  Amina and Ayinde took their influences from jazz, soul, and rock to create a band that plays songs for a wide range of fans. Fade2Black now includes Tracy Fitzsimmons (trumpet) and Deja’nae Parks (vocalist).

Fade2Black is happy to perform for the Oakland Branch of the NAACP Imani Youth

Matt Wong is an 8th grader at the Hilldale School.  At an early age he developed an appreciation for jazz & blues, and began playing the piano when he was six years old.  His musical influences include Herbie Hancock, Jimmy Smith, John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter.  Matt's main music teacher is Art Khu and he has also studied with Susan Muscarella and Rebeca Mauleon.  Matt plays and performs
with ensembles at the Jazzschool in Berkeley as well as the Oaktown Jazz Workshop with Khalil Shaheed.  He has also performed with vocalist Jacqui Naylor at venues including the Blue Note in New York, Jazz Alley and The Triple Door in Seattle, and Yoshi's in Oakland and San Francisco.  In addition, Matt performs with his own group, the Matt Wong Trio.  His main instrument is piano/keyboards and he also enjoys playing guitar.  Matt was the recipient of the 2010 Dick Conte Piano Scholarship awarded by the Jazzschool in Berkeley.
