Dorado Schmitt, gypsy guitar great from France heads up the The Django Allstar tour. The tour celebrates legendary guitarist Django Rheinhardt's 100th birthday (which is January 24th). Schmitt who has headed up Europe's Django/gypsy musical resurgence is joined by another acoustic music pioneer  mandolinist David Grisman. For more than 40 years Grisman has been busy creating "dawg" music, a blend of many stylistic influences (including swing, bluegrass, latin, jazz and gypsy) so unique he gave it its own name. In doing so, Grisman has inspired a whole new genre of acoustic string instrumental music with style and virtuosity while creating a unique niche for himself in the world of contemporary music.
Accompanying Schmitt and Grisman will be Samson Schmitt - Dorado's son, a young gypsy guitar star in his own right, Marcel Loeffler - virtuoso accordionist,  Pierre Blanchard - violin master, accompanied by veteran bassist Brian Torff who backed Stephane Grappelli for years.
