Seasoned guitarist Jacques Lesures plays, teaches, and presents all over the United States.and abroad.. He strives to create and nurture a love and appreciation for the tradition of Jazz music, as an original, American art form,birthed in the African-American culture, emphasizing how the sound is the root and foundation of music today.
Currently a resident of Los Angeles, California Jacques Lesure is originally from Detroit, Michigan. He has performed with many great artists in music: Kenny Burrell, Oscar Brown Jr., Jimmy Smith, Stanley Turrentine, Freddy Cole, Wynton Marsalis, George Benson, Jack McDuff, Les McCann, Carmen Lundy ,Oliver Lake, and many others. He has collaborated in the creation of and performed in a variety of stage plays, movie scores and special projects made for television. His career spans over 30 years.
Jacques is also very active in the community and with today’s up and coming musicians in the greater Los Angeles area. His weekly “No Nonsense Jam Session” has become a destination for the experienced musician, students both college and high school, and the locals who love to stop by and support the music. He is the Musical Director for the Living Legends Foundation and a member of the African-American Jazz Caucus. Jacques is a national adjudicator, judging student competitions across the nation and he is an Artist Teacher for the Thelonious Monk Institute, Make Music LA, and The Dolo Coker Jazz Foundation.
Jacques Lesure offers musical entertainment, enrichment and education through live performances, individual and group lessons, lectures, and music clinics. He is eager to give back to the community and expose today's youth to the rich history of Black American Music, especially Jazz, while keeping the adults grooving to his amazing sound. He continues to perform at clubs, benefits and events, various celebrations and Jazz festivals locally and around the world.
