Oakland singer/songwriter

Mara Hruby arrived on the scene at the start of 2010, playing shows throughout the Bay Area, and on November 30, she released her debut EP, From Her Eyes. Mara worked on this EP for nine months to which she applied her multi-talented dedication to recording, arranging, and engineering her own work. She had previously performed on stage with a Bay Area dance company; fate would prepare her for this path. She has chosen to speak through music in order to connect with those of us who love music. "From Her Eyes" is now a highly celebrated EP that has captured attention from around the world.

During an interview with a local entertainment magazine, Mara was asked to describe her sound: “My sound/style comes from what I have experienced in life. I feel my sound is organic, distinct, melodic, eclectic, and filled with sensitivity. To say the least, I’d call my music a melodic melting pot.”

The current practice of recording “covers” of well known music by well loved artists, has led to some very creatively unique results. The surprise breakthrough of Les Nubians’ version of Sade's mellow and soulful ballad, "The Sweetest Taboo," helped their American debut album, Princesses Nubiennes, to achieve a higher position on the Billboard charts than any other French-language album had in the previous decade.

The seven tracks on her "From Her Eyes" EP represent the genesis of the view from Mara’s eyes of the various works of her favorite male artists. Each song is connected to a memory experience in Mara’s young life. The beauty and elegance of Van Hunt’s “Character”, Bob Marley’s love for Jah, Mos Def’s soulful poetry, André 3000’s “Take Off Your Cool”, Jamiroquai's "Alright", as well as D’Angelo’s “Send It On” and The Roots "Stereolab" – are all examples of art forms from today’s exceptional musicians.

Mara Hruby is a mesmerizing artist who performs on stage with poise and grace. You will be surprised to discover how naturally her music will enter your heart and bring out love and inspiration.

Chris Turner
This classically trained crooner deftly combines streams of jazz, hip-hop, funk, and soul in his music; he’s as comfortable with falsetto and scatting as he is with laying down smooth and creative phrasings. Growing up in Oakland, Chris Turner knew at the age of four that he wanted to be a singer just like his father.

Chris graduated from the New School University for Jazz and Contemporary Music. There he met his future band mates who form the band ERIMAJ, Chris serves as the lead vocalist, the New York Times describes the band as “properly new, part of something larger and still unnamed”. He tours with Bilal Oliver and has also toured with Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson, Chris Brown, Bow Wow, Soulja Boy, and Sean Kingston.

Lately, Chris has performed and been interviewed on BET’s '106 & Park' as a Music Matters artist to watch. His first single, “Liquid Love,” has been causing a stir on the Internet and radio programs such as BBC Radio with Gilles Peterson. Most recently, he has had the privilege of contributing background vocals for Grammy Award winner Esperanza Spalding's Radio Music Society album and current tour!

Chris is currently working on his first full-length release, LOVEchild and touring internationally. Welcome to the Romantic Movement...
