What do you get if you take bandleader, musician and composer George Cole, add French/Argentian guitar sensation Mathias Minquet, stir in multi-instrumentalist Kaeli Earle, infuse with the legendary violinist Stephan Dudash - and shake it all up with a dash of mistletoe, a generous sprinkling of enticing vocal harmonies , and a dollop of ’30’s era Parisian hot jazz? Vive Le Jazz brings the sugar and spice of the holiday season to Yoshi’s tonight by way of the Gypsy-fueled jazz of 1930‘s Paris, with a menu of originals guaranteed to delight you.
Vive Le Jazz! celebrates the great American Songbook with sparkling melodies and lyrics, breathtaking vocals, and guitar virtuosity which evokes the dynamic styles of Gypsy jazz and swing a la Stephane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt, and "Hot Jazz" with an acoustically flavored French string-driven sound. Influenced by the great composers of the swing era like Cole Porter and George Gershwin, George Cole’s exciting band threads together the material to create a riveting synthesis with European flair.
Guitarist, lead vocalist, and composer George Cole has toured with Joe Walsh, recorded with producer Roy Thomas Baker (Queen and Paul McCartney), and performed with jazz legend Keely Smith. He also recorded with Chris Isaak and was guitar instructor and mentor to Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt of Green Day. George has enchanted audiences at musical landmarks from the Carnegie Hall in New York to Yoshi’s in Oakland. Just home from a cross-country tour with his touring band Eurocana, he is currently recording a new collection with Grammy award winner John Cuniberti.
French/Argentinian guitarist Mathias Minquet is an exceptionally talented multi-instrumentalist who has performied with Enrique Iglesias, Laura Pausini, and the Pussycat Dolls. His breathy French vocals add another entire dimension to the band. Multi-instrumentalist Kaeli Earle adds her remarkable talents, skill, and vibrantly expressive energy to Eurocana on vocals and bass. Kaeli has played with some of the best musicians the United States has to offer, including Stephan Dudash (John Jorgenson Quintet), Ivan Akiniisma, and Jimmy Luttrell, on the cello, upright bass, and vocals. Stephan Dudash dazzles on violin, and has performed all over the world with artists such as Olivia Newton-John, Shania Twain, Janie Fricke and most recently the John Jorgenson Quintet. He has just finished his third CD, Gypsy Quest,
“George Cole and his band puts you in a sexy European dream. Think Paris...and red wine...and new love, lost in a kiss on a wet cobblestone street.” Steve Bowman, Recording Artist (Counting Crows, Third Eye Blind), Nashville TN

The Honeybee Trio was formed in October 2008. Its three young singers, Sarah, Natalie, and Karli were only 12 and 13 at the time. They were all aware of each other's vocal abilities: two of the girls had performed duets together, they had all performed in local talent shows, and they had all been members of the same musical theater groups. They had even discussed the possibility of doing a trio, but it wasn't until Debi McMindes (a local music teacher) came along that this idea became a reality. Debi asked the three to work together for a special performance at a local retirement community. Though there were originally no plans beyond that one performance, it was clear that their combined talents produced something very special. And so, The Honeybee Trio was born. The girls sing classics from the 1930s and beyond in tight, three part harmony, with an emphasis on the 1930s and 40s swing era. In the four years since their journey began, they have performed hundreds of times to enthusiastic audiences throughout California.
